Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
We specialize in serving adults with diagnosed intellectual disabilities who benefit from structured residential support.
Residential Care
A licensed residential facility where safety, dignity, and personal growth come together.
Our Facility
Ability First Care operates as a licensed Home and Community Based residential treatment facility under Texas HCS standards. Our facility is designed to provide the structure and consistency that our residents need, while maintaining the warmth and comfort of a real home environment.
Residents live in clean, comfortable spaces with consistent routines, trained staff, and a community of peers. Every aspect of the facility is designed with our residents' well-being, safety, and dignity in mind.

We serve adults diagnosed with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) who qualify for Texas Home and Community Based Services (HCS) waiver funding. Many of our residents come to us with complex support needs and a history of inadequate placement options. We believe everyone deserves better than that.
We specialize in serving adults with diagnosed intellectual disabilities who benefit from structured residential support.
We are equipped to support residents with more complex behavioral or support needs who require consistent, skilled staffing.
Our facility is licensed to accept residents funded through the Texas HCS Medicaid waiver program.

Individualized Care Planning
Residents do not receive a standard care package. They receive a plan built specifically for them. Before move-in, our team coordinates with each resident's case worker to develop goals, identify support needs, and establish daily routines. That plan is documented, reviewed regularly, and adjusted as the resident grows. Progress is tracked daily and shared with all relevant parties.
Daily Life
Residents at Ability First Care benefit from consistent daily routines that support stability and well-being. Structured mornings, supported mealtimes, skill development activities, community outings, and calm evening routines create a predictable, safe rhythm that many of our residents thrive within. Staff are present and engaged, not just available.

Our residential facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is not a minimum standard we meet. It is a core part of how we provide care. Residents always have trained staff nearby, whether it is 2 PM or 2 AM. Families can rest knowing their loved one is safe, supported, and never alone.
Staff can respond to medical needs, behavioral situations, or nighttime needs immediately.
Trained staff recognize warning signs early and intervene before situations escalate.
We maintain open, regular communication with families and case workers about resident well-being and progress.

Community Integration
Residential care is not meant to be a closed system. We actively support residents in participating in their community, from community outings and recreational activities to appointments, social events, and skill-building opportunities outside the home. Community integration is a documented goal for every resident because we believe belonging and participation are fundamental to a good life.
If you are a case worker, family member, or state agency representative exploring placement options for an individual with IDD, we welcome the conversation. We are happy to discuss our facility, our approach, and whether Ability First Care is the right fit.
